Job Overview

The Chief Accountant will be responsible for the financial controlling for our businesses in Vietnam (and potentially other regional countries). You are responsible for financial reporting and regulatory compliance, ensuring compliance with Vietnamese Accounting Standards (VAS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and providing strategic financial guidance to support business growth. You will develop and implement processes that facilitate collection, verifying, and reporting of all financial data.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

Financial Reporting

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the Finance team, including timely month-end activities, tax, and regulatory reporting
  • Oversee tax compliance, including VAT, corporate income tax, personal income tax, transfer pricing and other relevant taxes in Vietnam
  • Manage external audits, consolidation, corporate reporting in a VAS and IFRS compliant environment, and auditor relationship
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and interpretations of complex accounting matters
  • Stay current with changes in Vietnamese financial regulations and accounting standards
  • Manage regional month close process and reporting as assigned

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Support budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting, and development of consolidated information for the group
  • Review and explain significant variances from prior period actuals, budgets, and forecasts in a timely manner

Financial Processes and Control

  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure financial integrity and regulatory compliance
  • Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of cost-effective controls to promote data integrity and minimize risk (eg. financial, operational, legal, regulatory)
  • Contribute to the digital transformation of accounting processes and systems

Corporate Finance

  • Support corporate finance activities including due diligence, product / business expansion, investor reporting, etc.
  • Collaborate with the business teams to provide commercial insight and financial analysis to support decision-making
  • Provide supports to the Treasury activities and monitor cash flow.  Maintain relationships with the relevant Vietnam banks
  • Undertake other assignments which may be given from time to time

Qualifications & Requirements

 

·       Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. CPA/ACCA certification is highly preferred

·       Mininum 5 – 8 years of progressive accounting experience with a portion of it being in a supervisory role

·       Strong knowledge of Vietnamese accounting regulations, tax laws, and financial reporting requirements

·       Experience with IFRS and international accounting standards

·       Prior experience in audit firm or startup will be preferred

·       Knowledge of employee relationship building and performance management techniques

·       Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

·       Proficiency in ERP systems and financial reporting tools. Experience with Netsuite will be a plus

·       Fluent in Vietnamese and English (both written and spoken)
