What you get to do 


We’re looking for a strategic, customer-focused Leader to lead growth in our broker channel and drive the evolution of our cutting-edge loan origination platform. 


You’ll own the Originations end-to-end transformation, product roadmap, and innovation strategy, working closely with our whole business. You’ll also lead our product partnerships program with our key aggregator groups. 


This is a unique opportunity to shape product, growth, and partnerships across multiple areas of the business.


You are a senior strategist, transformation expert, platform delivery seasoned leader and deeply hands on player who wants to build incredible capabilities at pace working with good people.


This is a key senior leader role at Athena, the position is responsible for:


Broker Channel Growth & Strategy

Lead the charge in driving high-growth partnerships and transforming broker success

  • Develop and execute strategies that enhance broker and partner experiences, offering standout products and solutions.
  • Build seamless platforms that empower brokers with easy access to tools, data, and tailored mortgage products.
  • Work cross-functionally with marketing, sales, and operations to drive broker engagement and streamline loan origination.
  • Lead our partnership program with key partners, running executive and growth forums, defining and reporting on success metrics, and co-creating with Broker Groups 


Origination Strategy and value creation

Shape the future of Athena’s origination and broker experience

  • Lead the end-to-end origination strategy, optimising processes, systems, and costs to create Australia’s fastest refinance and best origination experience.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration and manage strategy across short, mid, and long-term horizons, ensuring detailed execution and customer-focused improvements.
  • Create and analyse performance data, own benefits realization, and foster a growth mindset to optimize and iterate continuously.
  • Manage risks, controls, and quality while driving process optimization through automation, lean improvements, and alignment with business objectives.


Loan Origination Platform Development

Lead innovation and build the best mortgage platform in the industry, free from red tape

  • Drive strategy and prioritise a transformational roadmap to enhance speed, accuracy, and performance across the origination journey.
  • Collaborate with engineering to build a cutting-edge, AI-powered platform that redefines how mortgages are processed.
  • Work with the Product Team to expand our innovation DNA and develop specialized products that meet evolving customer needs.
  • Own the product management lifecycle, leading the team through ideation, development, testing, launch, and post-launch optimization to drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead the management of our external lodgment platform, working closely with Vendor teams and running our Squad as a Service to drive execution and deliver exceptional results.


Your wheelhouse


To be successful, you need to be deeply experienced in transforming financial platforms for the last for 10 – 20 years. You could have come from product management, originations and lending management, financial analysis, portfolio management, product development, business analysis, analytics and data, process improvement and architecture, engineering, operational management, and transformation, change or project management. 


The role at its heart is about originating home loans to create better outcomes for Australians. Ideally, you’ll have a ton of passion and experience in mortgages. If not, there needs to be a strength of leadership, scale-up culture fit and deep financial technology and product background.


Strategic leadership and execution: ability to define and lead the end-to-end origination strategy. Strong track record in executing strategies across multiple horizons with outperforming results.


Analytical and logical thinking: highly analytical with strong numeracy and a logical approach to problem-solving. Skilled in critical thinking, quickly understanding concepts and iterating fast.


Product management: expertise in managing the full product lifecycle from ideation to execution, including prioritising features, driving innovation, and optimizing ongoing


Process-driven and operational excellence: experience in creating and optimizing lean, automated processes and workflows for large-scale teams. You are experimenting with AI already.


Human-centered leadership: a genuinely good person who values teamwork and collaboration, loving supporting your team to grow and being able to focus on this whilst driving results. 


Cross-functional collaboration: work really well with others who are passionate in their domains. Your superpower is bringing the parts together to create a greater whole.


Numbers focused: strong on data and metrics, both creating them and using them to assess performance, drive insights, confirm benefits and make informed decisions.


Customer relationships: having worked in both B2C and B2B environments with close proximity to end customers and partners you know what it looks like to make this magic happen.


Agile methodologies: skilled in agile development and leading teams through iterative cycles, ensuring continuous improvement, speed, and high-quality delivery.


Real outcomes: you're results-focused, with no tolerance for busy work. Your actions have a direct and impactful outcome, and you know how to make valuable changes happen quickly.
