About You
As a Risk Management Officer at Chapa, you will be responsible for managing risk, resolving disputes, and generating reports to maintain the security and reliability of our payment gateway system. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to uphold industry standards and ensure smooth payment transactions.

Chapa Financial Technologies S.C https:/chapa.co is an online payment gateway that empowers small businesses and large merchants to accept online or offline customer payments via our APIs. The company primarily focuses on securely solving payments-related problems for ambitious businesses and governmental organizations in developing countries, mainly Ethiopia.
Responsibilities:
Risk Assessment
- Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify and evaluate potential risks associated with payment transactions.
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks effectively.
Dispute Resolution
- Investigate and resolve payment-related disputes, chargebacks, and issues by company policies and industry regulations.
- Communicate with customers, merchants, and banks to address and resolve disputes promptly.
Reporting
- Generate regular reports on transaction volumes, risk factors, dispute resolution outcomes, and other relevant financial metrics.
- Analyze and present data to support informed decision-making and improvements to the payment system.
Regulatory Compliance and Security
- Collaborate with the compliance team to implement necessary updates and enhancements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and external auditors on risk management matters.
Customer Support
- Assist merchants and customers with payment-related inquiries or issues, offering clear and helpful guidance.
Risk Mitigation
· Develop and implement risk management strategies and action plans.
· Monitor and report on the implementation of risk mitigation measures.
Continuous Improvement
Identify areas for process enhancement and suggest improvements to streamline risk management and dispute resolution processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Business administration, Finance, risk management, or a related field. Professional certifications (CRM, FRM) would be a plus.
- Prior experience in risk management, dispute resolution, or financial services is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in risk management, preferably in financial technology or financial service sector.
- Strong knowledge of risk management principles, practices, methodologies, and analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Understanding of industry regulations and compliance standards.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and reporting software.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to risk management.
