The European Controller & Regulatory Reporting Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of all regulatory reporting and accounting of our European entities. This role will oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of robust accounting processes and procedures, ensuring adherence to relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP) and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong technical accounting expertise, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of managing complex regulatory reporting processes.
As a European Controller & Regulatory Reporting Lead, you will:
Regulatory Reporting:
Oversee the preparation and submission of all regulatory reports for our European entities, ensuring timely and accurate filing with relevant authorities.
Ensure adequate/optimised level of regulatory capital for the regulated entities
Stay abreast of changes in regulatory reporting requirements and proactively implement necessary adjustments to processes and systems.
Technically challenge the regulatory reporting and ensure returns are submitted in line with relevant requirements and regulations.
Manage and respond to internal/external regulatory inquiries and examinations.
Own procedures for new products or processes impacting regulatory reporting.
Ensure a strong control environment for regulatory reporting processes.
Lead implementation of new regulatory reporting systems or upgrades.
Ensure the appropriate training of individuals involved in regulatory reporting.
Accounting and Financial Reporting:
Oversee the operations of the accounting department across multiple legal entities in Europe, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.
Oversee and review month end accounting entries.
Review and analyze monthly financial statements.
Coordinate the annual audits for the European entities
Ensure timely closing of all regulatory and financial audit points
Prepare monthly cashflow forecast for the European entities
Assist in the preparation and review of the European entities annual report.
Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures.
Leadership:
Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of regulatory compliance, collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Legal, Compliance, Internal Audit) to ensure alignment and effective communication.
Manage relationships with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
Lead or participate in cross functional projects.
Risk Management:
Identify and assess financial reporting and regulatory risks, and develop and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
Ensure compliance with internal controls related to financial reporting.
What skillset you need, to be successful in this role:
Minimum 10 years of experience in accounting and regulatory reporting, preferably in the financial services and retail broker / dealer industry.
Minimum 3 years of experience in team management.
Extensive knowledge of relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP) and FCA (UK) and KNF (Poland) regulations and reporting requirements.
Proven track record of managing complex regulatory reporting processes.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong technical accounting expertise and analytical skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Experience with accounting software and financial reporting systems.
Strong project management skills.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Master's degree or certified accounting designation preferred.
